From the Daily Beast – Facebook to Ban Groups That Push Defiance of Social-Distancing Orders
“Groups that are helping to organize public protests against shelter-in-place orders will be banned from Facebook if they do not adhere to social-distancing guidelines, a company spokesperson told Vice. Protesters in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, among others, have been demanding state governors end stay-at-home orders that are aimed to mitigate the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The groups have been further emboldened by President Trump’s tweets urging citizens to “liberate” their states, with several organizing efforts reportedly tied to gun-rights advocates. “Unless the government prohibits the event during this time, we allow it to be organized on Facebook,” a Facebook spokesperson told Vice. “For this same reason, events that defy the government’s guidance on social distance aren’t allowed on Facebook.” Public-health officials continue to advise that social-distancing practices are crucial at this stage of the pandemic to control the spread of the virus, as deaths topped 41,000 across the U.S.” Read more here – https://www.thedailybeast.com/facebook-says-its-banning-anti-lockdown-protests-that-breach-social-distancing-orders
Ok. Well that’s why (or one of the reasons why) websites like San Clemente Hacks exist. We originally started as website for San Clemente business and locals to network, promote good deals, find good deals, and take advantage of SC Hacks services. Our priorities have shifted, temporarily at least, so we now want to make this a place for SC business and locals can make their voices heard.
Yeah FB suspended me for a week. Thanks for being here #SCHacks.
WOAH! I guess FaceBook is showing it’s true Nazi colors. Whatever happened to the first amendment and our constitutional rights to free speech and assembly?!? Time for some serious Civil Disobedience. Let’s organize and demand our freedom!
If you want local customers, either on mobile or desktop, to find you, you have to have a comprehensive search strategy. Your website should include information about the products and services you provide, your location, optimized content and relevant keywords.
Even though you are a local business, 90% of your potential customers will first see your name online. Your search engine entry will show your name and a description of your business, but not your brand. Your online brand begins with your website.
Having a solid, trusted brand is important for your company to thrive. If your target audience doesn’t know or trust your brand, how will you ever increase your customer base and sales?
Mobile usability isn’t just shrinking a website to fit various devices. It’s about paying mindful attention to the ways people use mobile devices and understanding that the mobile experience is as unique as the user.
Usability design for mobile devices is as much about the way it feels as the way it looks and behaves. People use their fingers—or more specifically and more often, their thumbs—to interact with the screen, rather than the traditional desktop proxies of a mouse and keyboard. This means mobile design is a much more tactile experience than desktop. Users feel it as much as they see it.
